How to Create an AI Assistant on ChatGPT
If you would have told me 3 years ago that I could have multiple personal assistants for only $20 a month I would have (rightly)called you insane. But that’s the reality for all of us now with the advent of ChatGPT and it’s capability to create Personal GPTs. We can create highly functioning assistants to handle a multitude of tasks.
Let's get straight to it. You want to know how to make an AI assistant that mimics your writing style. I'm going to show you exactly how to do that with ChatGPT, so you can handle your content creation tasks like a pro. Here's the step-by-step guide, no fluff, just the real deal.
Step 1: Gather Your Writing Samples
First things first, you need a collection of your previously written content. This could be blog posts, emails, social media updates, whatever. The more varied, the better. This gives the AI a solid base to understand your unique tone and style.
Step 2: Set Up Your ChatGPT
Sign into ChatGPT. Click “Explore GPT's” on the right hand side.
Then click “Create” in the upper right hand corner.
After you click that you’ll see a screen like this.
You’ll notice there are two sides. The left hand side is where you’ll talk to ChatGPT and give it your instructions that it will use to build your PersonalGPT. The right hand side is your Personal GPT, where you can test your build so far. We’re going to be talking to the left hand side.
Step 3: Upload Your Writing Samples
You’re going to click the paper clip on the left hand side. On the pop up you’re going to select “upload files from computer”. Then you’re going to upload 10 samples of your previously written content. Don’t press enter yet.
After your files are uploaded you’re going to copy and paste this prompt into the chat on the left hand side:
"Act as a copywriter and given the text examples provided in the document, I want you to generate the text I ask for in that particular writing style. Start by analyzing the text samples in the document and within each sample analyze the writing style, tone and the way nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and verbs are used. Your only role is to produce new content based on my prompts that sounds exactly like mine."
Now press enter.
After you do this ChatGPT will ask you a series of follow up questions. This will include asking you to name your GPT and other preferences. Take your time and answer the questions.
Step 4: Craft Your First Prompt
Test the waters by giving the AI a simple task. For instance, you could ask it to write a blog post introduction or a social media update. Here’s an example:
"Based on my writing style, create a blog post introduction about the benefits of consistent workout routines."
If you don’t like the output- tell ChatGPT. This is where you will finetune your AI Assistant. Be explicit with your requests:
“Write in a more conversational tone.” “Don’t ever use exclamation points.” “Only use bullet points when I ask for a social media caption.”
The more clearly you communicate what you want, the better ChatGPT will be at producing it.
Step 5: Create
Once your content with your output, click “Create” in the upper right hand corner. ChatGPT is going to ask you if this GPT is just for you, or for the public. You can choose whichever option you want.
Step 6: Scale Your Content Creation
Once you're happy with the results, start using your AI assistant for more tasks. It can draft blog posts, email campaigns, social media content, and more. This ensures consistency in your voice and saves you a hell of a lot of time.
Once you create your GPT it will be located on the right side of your main screen. You can always access it by just clicking the icon.
